1992-08-24 Miguel Angel Gonzalez w rtd 9 Wilfrido Rocha, Jai-Alai Fronton, Mexico City, Mexico - WBC. Referee: Tony Perez. Contesting the title vacated by Pernell Whitaker, Gonzalez (134½) made a bright start before being dropped heavily in the second round and being forced to regroup. Coming back strongly to establish control, the Mexican put Rocha (134½) down in the fourth and fifth sessions and kept up the pressure to such a degree that the latter retired on his stool at the end of the ninth when thoroughly bemused and worn out.
