1992-08-28 [[Maurice Blocker]] w pts 12 [[Luis Garcia]], Trump Plaza Hotel, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Frank Cappuccino. Scorecards: 115-110, 116-110, 112-115. Fighting aggressively from the opening bell, the challenger forced Blocker (147) on to the back foot in the first four rounds, never giving him the space or time in which to work. By the fifth Blocker was having to fight back or be overwhelmed, and in this session he knocked Garcia (147) down three times with left hooks without being able to halt the latter’s advance. As the IBF did not have the three knockdowns in a round ruling in place Garcia was free to fight on and far from being discouraged he tore into Blocker, continually pressurising him and pushing him back. Although Blocker got his jab working well towards the end, he spent the last couple of rounds totally on the back foot when most bystanders expected him to be hunting for points and many, including one of the judges, felt that he had not done enough to win.
