1992-09-09 [[Morris East]] w rsc 11 [[Akinobu Hiranaka]], Nihon Budokan Martial Arts Hall, Tokyo, Japan - WBA. Referee: Carlos Berrocal. It was hardly surprising that East (140), with just 16 fights on his record, was under pressure early on as the champion looked to finish early, but showing good upper body movement he was able to stay out of harm's way prior to the sixth before winning the next three rounds with solid left jabs paving the way. Although the ninth and tenth rounds were evenly contested, unable to land his pet punches Hiranaka (140) began to tire and a solid left-hand counter to the face was all that was required to put him down in the 11th. With Hiranaka behind on all three cards and pretty well banged up, despite him getting up at the count of ‘eight’ the referee stopped the fight on the 1.47 mark.
