1992-09-19 Chris Eubank w pts 12 Tony Thornton, Scottish Exhibition Centre, Glasgow, Scotland - WBO. Referee: Roberto Ramirez. Scorecards: 114-112, 114-113, 112-114. Having coasted through the opening four rounds, the champion then surprisingly gave up several sessions due to lack of effort and was outworked by Thornton (168). Several times Eubank (168) was shaken up during the contest and occasionally he looked like he might go down, but he always fought back strongly when hurt. In the ninth and tenth it was Eubank who had his man groggy and although he tried his utmost to finish the American off he was unsuccessful. The last two sessions saw Eubank, now throwing arm punches and looking tired, content to allow Thornton to make the running and at the final bell it was a close call with many believing a drew to have been a fairer result.
