1992-10-15 Duke McKenzie w pts 12 Jesse Benavides, Lewisham Theatre, Catford, London, England - WBO. Referee: Mariano Soto. Scorecards: 118-110, 115-112, 115-113. On his way to becoming a three-weight world champion, McKenzie (120½) boxed well on occasion, but it was generally an untidy affair spoilt by too much holding as he sought to stop Benavides (121¾) from getting his punches off. In the tenth McKenzie caught Benavides with a short right, followed by a glancing left hook which put the American down, but he was soon back into the action although unable to change the course of the fight as his heavier punches continued to miss the target.
