1992-10-23 Manuel Medina w pts 12 Moussa Sangare, Sports Hall, Gravelines, France - IBF. Referee: Bobby Ferrara. Scorecards: 116-113, 115-113, 114-114. There was never a great deal in this one, which saw the light-punching champion relying on two-fisted flurries to notch up the points against the heavier punching Sangare (125¾). Possibly overawed, the man from Mali really did not get going until the third round and was not at his hard-punching best until the eighth when he cut loose with uppercuts and hooks. By then, however, Medina (125½) was in front, and when cleverly covering up and working in close he did enough to preserve his lead.
