1992-12-03 Jeff Harding w pts 12 David Vedder, Franklyn Rooms, Paris, France - WBC. Referee: Arthur Mercante. Scorecards: 117-113, 116-114, 118-114. Once again coming from behind to retain his title, Harding (170¾) had to call on all his resources to get past Vedder (169¾), who made an impressive start. His good work had him in front after six rounds before Harding moved up a notch in the seventh to get himself in with a shout. Despite being cut on the left eye, Harding poured it on from the eighth, banging in solid jabs and hooks as a tiring Vedder tried to counter before being pushed back. Ruled out by a cut-eye a week before defending his WBC crown against Mike McCallum, Harding had to sit it out while the former stopped Randall Yonker in the fifth round on 4 March 1994 (at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA) to win the ‘interim’ title. The pair would eventually get it on in July 1994.
