1992-12-05 [[Miguel Angel Gonzalez]] w pts 12 [[Darryl Tyson]], Four Roads Bullring, Mexico City, Mexico - WBC. Referee: Luis Carlos Guzman. Scorecards: 120-108, 118-110, 118-110. Although Tyson (134½) hustled and bustled his way forward as he looked to win inside the distance, it was the height and reach advantages of the champion that prevailed. While Gonzalez (135) piled up the points with good jabs, hooks and uppercuts, the American was always looking to land the ‘big one’, but apart from two cracking rights to the head in the sixth the former could not be pinned down long enough for any real damage to occur. Gonzalez hit his best form in the seventh and ninth rounds with solid rights and left-rights having Tyson reeling, but the latter survived as he ducked his way out of the firing line before making it to the final bell and losing widely on the cards.
