Down from a countering left in round one, Patterson (121½) quickly got up and in the second session, punching crisply, inflicted a bad cut over the challenger’s left eye. From then on it was boxer versus puncher as Zaragoza (122) appeared to edge Patterson, who was unable to make his heavier blows pay off as his rival used speed and long lefts to take the fight right to the wire.
