1992-12-21 Julio Cesar Vasquez w rsc 1 Hitoshi Kamiyama, Hector Etchart Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina - WBA. Referee: Isidro Rodriguez. Fighting to decide the title vacated by Vinny Pazienza, the aggressive Vasquez (152¾) soon had Kamiyama (152¼) in trouble and after landing solidly with southpaw uppercuts and hooks he dropped his man with a heavy right to the jaw. On getting up it could be seen that Kamiyama was cut over the left eye and Vasquez wasted no more time when battering him down again almost immediately. The contest was automatically ended on the three knockdowns in a round ruling on the 2.59 mark, after a cracking left to the head had floored Kamiyama for the third time.
