1993-02-12 Gert Bo Jacobsen w pts 12 Manning Galloway, Town Hall, Randers, Denmark - WBO. Referee: Ismael Fernandez. Scorecards: 115-113, 115-113, 116-113. This would be third time lucky for Jacobsen (146¾) in his quest to beat the clever southpaw champion and he made a reasonable start, landing impressively to the body and keeping up the pressure. Meanwhile, Galloway (146¾) was showboating and it was not until the fifth when Jacobsen began to suffer from a swollen left eye that he came back into it more. Jacobsen was still going well into the final third, but Galloway was landing the harder punches even if he was continuing to work sporadically. Although Galloway came with a rush in the last couple of rounds, his hit-and-run style obviously did not impress the judges enough to give him the decision.

Owing to an illness, Jacobsen relinquished the WBO version of the championship in October, the week before he was due to defend against Eamonn Loughran and a Loughran v Lorenzo Smith match was hastily made to decide the vacant title.
