1993-02-20 Chris Eubank w pts 12 Lindell Holmes, Olympia National Hall, Kensington, London, England - WBO. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Scorecards: 116-114, 120-109, 117-112. Starting fast, the champion had Holmes (167) over from a slip in the first session and after slamming in a big right to the head in the fourth he saw his rival saved by the bell. Holmes, scoring well at times with left hooks, showed his grit throughout the 12 gruelling rounds and continued to be a nuisance up until the ninth when he was cut over the left eye. From there on in, however, Eubank, despite carrying a swelling under the left eye, took complete control but was unable to stop the stubborn Holmes, who deserved to last the course even if he did resort to going low on the blind side of the referee several times.
