1993-03-06 Anaclet Wamba w pts 12 David Vedder, Marcel Cerdan Sports Palace, Levallois-Perret, France - WBC. Referee: Larry O’Connell. Scorecards: 117-113, 118-111, 116-113. Never really at risk throughout the contest, once the champion had taken a good look at Vedder (187½), who started well with fast left hands, there was only going to be one winner. Really a jumped-up light-heavy, Vedder was too small for the lumbering Wamba (190), but apart from being hurt by a countering right in the tenth the American comfortably made it to the final bell. It was Wamba’s sheer strength at the weight that was making him a difficult customer to beat and Vedder ultimately went the same way as all bar two of his previous 41 opponents.
