1993-03-13 Tracy Harris Patterson w pts 12 Jesse Benavides, McCann Recreation Centre, Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - WBC. Referee: Arthur Mercante Jr. Scorecards: 115-114, 115-113, 117-113. For the first five rounds Patterson (122) was generally in control, switching from head to body before the challenger got going, and sending out jabs and one-twos to keep his man at bay for the next few sessions. At that stage Benavides (122) was outworking his rival, whose left eye was cut in the eighth, but in the tenth Patterson turned it around with a terrific right to the head. From then on Patterson had the better of the exchanges, a solid right busting up Benavides’ left eye in the final session.
