1993-03-20 Henry Maske w pts 12 Charles Williams, Philips Hall, Dusseldorf, Germany - IBF. Referee: Al Rothenberg. Scorecards: 116-111, 118-110, 116-111. A gold medallist from the 1988 Olympics, Maske (174) quickly made his imprint on the fight with southpaw jabs and crosses making it difficult for the champion to get set. Returning to the ring after suffering two broken left hands, Williams (174½) had encountered problems in making the weight and it showed. Although he started well, damaging both of Maske’s eyes early on, the latter refused to get into a fight and was content to box on the back foot. Realising he was behind on the cards, Williams put in big effort in the final couple of sessions, but it was too little and too late.
