1993-04-03 [[Jorge Eliecer Julio]] w rtd 8 [[Francisco Alvarez]], Indian Bullring, Cartagena, Colombia - WBA. Referee: Manuel Rodriguez. Making his first defence a winning one, Julio (117) easily defeated his compatriot, Alvarez (117½), who was retired by his corner at the end of the eighth round after being badly cut. The decision was a wise one as the cause had become hopeless, with Alvarez being outclassed and not winning a round up to that point.
