1993-04-10 [[Juan Martin Coggi]] w rsc 7 [[Jose Rivera]], The Superdome, Mar Del Plata, Argentina - WBA. Referee: Isidro Rodriguez. Although he started strongly, the challenger soon had trouble dealing with the southpaw counters once Coggi (140) had settled down and in the third round solid hooks and uppercuts opened a cut over the Puerto Rican’s right eye. However, Rivera (139¼) was still dangerous and he hurt Coggi with a big right to the head in the fifth, before the latter came back in the sixth to work on his opponent’s injured eye which began to worsen. With just two seconds of the seventh remaining it was all over when the referee decided that the damage to Rivera’s eye was so bad that it was too difficult for him to continue.
