1993-05-05 Crisanto Espana w pts 12 Rodolfo Aguilar, Ulster Hall, Belfast, Northern Ireland - WBA. Referee: John Coyle. Scorecards: 117-111, 120-109, 119-110. Although retaining his title against the southpaw Aguilar (145¾), it wasn’t a night to remember for Espana (147) as he was handicapped by sore knuckles on his left hand and showed no real sense of urgency. Adding to his woes he couldn’t floor or even hurt Aguilar, who was not expected to last long, and had to be content with a fairly comprehensive points win. At the end of the contest Aguilar’s right eye was virtually closed, having ballooned during the last round, but he had done his best despite his limitations.
