1993-06-26 Juan Molina w pts 12 Manuel Medina, Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Robert Palmer. Scorecards: 117-111, 116-112, 115-113. Although retaining his title by a unanimous decision, Molina (129½) hardly covered himself in glory against his taller challenger, who made life difficult for him when using height and reach to stay on the outside for much of the fight. Clearly the stronger and more compact of the two, Molina (129½) began to get inside in the second to work Medina (130) over, but the awkward Mexican continued to mess the champion about as the fight progressed. However, when the fight reached the two-thirds stage it was clear that Molina was getting to the tiring Medina, solid lefts and rights slowing him down, and he went on from there to make sure of the win.
