1993-07-04 Charles Murray w pts 12 Juan Laporte, Showboat Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Tony Orlando. Scorecards: 118-110, 120-107, 118-110. Making his first defence against Laporte (140), the sharp-shooting Murray (140) soon had the veteran Puerto Rican in his sights and once he had acclimatised he was on his way, with his excellent left jab at the forefront of every move. Although it was lopsided Laporte was always trying, especially with countering hooks, but he had little success and by the eighth he had finally begun to work his way inside. However, apart from having some joy in the tenth he ultimately had to settle for being second best.
