1993-08-21 Julio Cesar Vasquez w pts 12 Aaron Davis, Etoiles Sporting Club, Monte Carlo, Monaco - WBA. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Scorecards: 115-114, 116-115, 115-115. Boxing behind a high guard the challenger did well in the opening rounds, but was unable to make a dent in Vasquez (153) despite catching him with solid left uppercuts on the inside. As the fight wore on the crude, swinging Vasquez came more into it, but he lacked the quality to take advantage of openings and had to rely on his strength to eventually wear Davis (154) down. Fairly even with three rounds to go, it was only in the last two sessions that the southpaw champion made sure of victory as Davis finally cracked under the pressure.
