1993-10-30 [[Orzubek Nazarov]] w pts 12 [[Dingaan Thobela]], NASREC Exhibition Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa - WBA. Referee: Enzo Montero. Scorecards: 118-108, 117-111, 115-114. The rugged Nazarov (134¼) made a great start with a sustained body attack and he consistently backed the champion up throughout. However, getting careless towards the end of the fourth round he was put down by a short left and Thobela (134¾) took advantage over the next couple of sessions with a mixture of solid rights and lefts putting him back in contention. Subsequently, Nazarov took over as he bulled a subdued Thobela around the ring before dropping him with a southpaw straight left in the tenth. It was clear that Thobela had to do something out of the ordinary at that point if he wanted to keep his title, but he was already drained from the incessant body attacks and it was only by holding on that he made it to the finishing post as Nazarov, his right eye virtually closed, continued to pursue him.

The rugged Nazarov (134¼), making a great start with a sustained body attack, consistently backed the champion up throughout. However, getting careless towards the end of the fourth round, after Nazarov was put down by a short left Thobela (134¾) took advantage over the next couple of sessions with a mixture of solid rights and lefts putting him back in contention. Subsequently, Nazarov took over as he bulled a subdued Thobela around the ring before dropping him with a southpaw straight left in the tenth. It was clear that Thobela had to do something out of the ordinary at that point if he wanted to keep his title, but already drained from incessant body attacks it was only by holding on that he made it to the finishing post as Nazarov, his right eye virtually closed, continued to pursue him.
