1993-11-18 [[Wilfredo Vazquez]] w pts 12 [[Hiroaki Yokota]], Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan - WBA. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Scorecards: 116-112, 116-112, 115-113. Pursuing his fleet-footed southpaw challenger throughout Vazquez (122) pounded out a points victory, but apart from dropping his rival in the fourth with a right-hand counter he had to be satisfied with the points. For a man trying to win the title, Yokota (121) fought strangely and was unable to capitalise on Vazquez’s mistakes, as well as failing to make a grandstand finish when it counted.
