1994-02-19 Rafael Ruelas w pts 12 Fred Pendleton, Great Western Forum, Los Angeles, California, USA - IBF. Referee: Robert Byrd. Scorecards: 114-112, 116-111, 115-110. Smashed to the floor twice in the opening round, firstly by a solid right and then by a cracker of a left hook, the challenger was lucky to make it to the bell as Pendleton (135) looked to finish him off. The fight then took off in the second when both men landed powerful blows, but neither could keep it up and by the ninth it had slowed appreciably before Pendleton suddenly sent Ruelas (135) crashing with a wild right that caught him off balance. It was at this point, with Pendleton rapidly tiring, that Ruelas got on top and during the last nine minutes he was doing all the work as the champion slumped to the floor and barely made it to the final bell.
