1994-03-05 Oscar De La Hoya w rtd 10 Jimmi Bredahl, Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA - WBO. Referee: Lou Moret. Knocked down in the opening two rounds Bredahl (130) looked to be heading for an early night. However, it took De La Hoya (128¾) almost another 25 minutes before he could drop the champion again, having hurt him several times in the interim. Round after round De La Hoya tracked Bredahl, only to be confused by the southpaw stance, but in the tenth a short right uppercut followed by a barrage of blows sent the Dane, his right eye swelling, down for the mandatory ‘eight’. With his eye badly swollen, although he got back to his corner Bredahl was retired during the interval.
