1994-04-22 John Michael Johnson w rsc 11 Junior Jones, Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Richard Steele. In a huge upset, Johnson (118) used a heavy right hand to negate the champion’s reach advantage, and in the fourth round it was that punch which sent Jones (118) crashing for a count. Getting up, Jones boxed well for the next few sessions, using a jab-and-move routine, but it was noticeable that Johnson was getting closer, eventually putting the champion down again in the 11th with a countering left-right. After picking himself up at the count of 'eight', the referee rescued him at 1.21 of the round when he was being hammered against the ropes and hit without reply.
