1994-05-06 Lennox Lewis w rsc 8 Phil Jackson, Boardwalk Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBC. Referee: Arthur Mercante. After putting Jackson (218) down inside the opening 20 seconds with a left jab followed by a right cross, the champion continued to wear his rival down with the jab before striking again in the fifth. Having been knocked down by a heavy right to the head, Jackson got up at ‘nine’ only to be floored again by two more heavy blows after the bell had sounded. Despite no one apparently hearing the bell, Lewis (235) was deducted a point. From then on Lewis merely bided his time before ripping in to Jackson in the eighth, dropping his man with a right uppercut-left hook-right hook, whereupon the referee stopped the fight on the 1.35 mark.
