1994-05-27 Rafael Ruelas w rtd 3 Mike Evgen, MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - IBF. Referee: Mitch Halpern. Marching forward from the start, the champion soon had the measure of Evgen (135), who was a two-week replacement for Carl Griffiths, and by the end of the first session he had already handed out a shellacking to his shell-shocked foe. Having somehow survived the second the brave challenger was not expected to last much longer, but just when it seemed that Ruelas (135) had punched himself out he picked it up again and was smashing in head shots without reply when Evgen’s corner pulled him out with seven seconds of third round remaining.
