1994-06-04 Steve Robinson w pts 12 Freddy Cruz, National Ice Rink, Cardiff, Wales - WBO. Referee: Toby Gibson. Scorecards: 116-112, 117-110, 118-109. Coming in as a replacement for Duke McKenzie, Cruz (125¼) was just not strong enough for the champion and could thank his excellent defensive skills for the reason he was never floored. The outstanding fitness, self belief and solid punching power that Robinson (125¾) brought to the ring was all too much for Cruz, and he spent most of the evening trying to avoid the jab, along with other blows which came his way. Docked a point in the ninth after his third warning for holding behind the head merely emphasised Cruz’s problems.
