1994-06-11 Tom Johnson w rsc 12 Bennie Amparo, Bally’s Park Place Hotel, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Tony Orlando. Well in the fight for the opening five rounds, the challenger worked his way inside with good combination punches while Johnson (126) hit back with solid, accurate counters. Having initially fought at close quarters, Johnson moved to long range halfway through the contest and began to pull away with punch after punch landing cleanly. In the 12th it was clear that Amparo (126) needed a knockout and he charged into Johnson, both hands flailing, but was soon beaten back before being dropped heavily just as the referee was calling a halt on the 61-second marker.
