1994-07-14 [[Anaclet Wamba]] drew 12 [[Adolpho Washington]], Sporting Club, Monte Carlo, Monaco - WBC. Referee: Mickey Vann. Scorecards: 116-114, 115-115, 116-116. Despite being cut on the forehead in the opening round, Washington (189¾) proved to be a tough opponent for the champion and ultimately came close to winning. Fighting in a lethargic manner, Wamba (189½) did just enough to retain his title as the tough Washington made life difficult for him, barely raising his game and allowing the latter to dictate on occasion. Even when Washington, his left swelling up, was tiring in the eighth Wamba failed to take advantage and it was not until the 11th that he realised that he needed to work harder. At the final bell opinion was divided, and all talk of Wamba unifying the title appeared to be way off the mark.
