1994-07-23 Mike McCallum w pts 12 Jeff Harding, Civic Centre, Bismark, North Dakota, USA - WBC. Referee: Marty Denkin. Scorecards: 116-112, 115-114, 115-113. Out of action for over 18 months, mainly due to promotional problems that stopped his fight with McCallum 174½) from happening, the champion made a slow start and before too long was being worked over from head to body. Deducted a point in the fourth round for continuously going low, McCallum merely got back to work as Harding (174) tried desperately tried to find some form. Although McCallum was in top form, especially when sending in cracking uppercuts, he could not put Harding down as hard as he tried and while observers generally thought that the latter had won two rounds at most the official scoring showed there was not much between them. Afterwards it was said that the judges had penalised McCallum for continuing to blitz Harding with low punches.
