1994-07-29 James Toney w co 12 Charles Williams, MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - IBF. Referee: Joe Cortez. Despite having height and reach advantages, Williams (167½), the former IBF light-heavyweight kingpin, was happy to work at close quarters where he could close down the champion and take the sting out of his punches. Closely contested, by the end of the seventh both fighters had their left eyes closed and swollen and in the eighth, Toney (168) had a point deducted for hitting and nearly flooring Williams after the bell. With Toney coming on stronger in the latter stages, Williams began to tire and in the 11th he was all but done for. The final session saw both men tired but it was Toney who got his second wind and after dropping Williams with a right to the jaw the latter was counted out on the 2.45 mark.
