1994-08-29 [[Harold Grey]] w pts 12 [[Julio Cesar Borboa]], Great Western Forum, Los Angeles, California, USA - IBF. Referee: Robert Byrd. Scorecards: 111-117, 114-113, 116-112. The unheralded Grey (115) capitalised on his height and reach with the jab, while Borboa (115) was also surprisingly outfought inside, the challenger proving himself to be faster and more skilful all round. Cut over the left eye in the fifth, although Borboa came with a flourish during the final two or three rounds and occasionally hurt Grey who was suffering damage to the right eye since the sixth, he was unable to floor the champion legally. Dropping Grey with a low blow and having a point deducted, instead of retaining the title with a split draw Borboa was accorded loser status.
