1994-10-01 Steve Robinson w co 9 Duke McKenzie, National Ice Rink, Cardiff, Wales - WBO. Referee: Roy Francis. Although the challenger made a confident start with accurate left jabs and neat right hooks hitting the target, it was soon apparent that Robinson (125½) was the stronger, and tucked up behind a high guard from the fourth onwards he was soon blocking the punches coming his way while drilling in body blows. In an effort to change the course of the fight, McKenzie (125¾) got on his bike for a few rounds, snapping in jabs and generally keeping his distance, but after being docked a point for pushing down on Robinson in the eighth he upped the pace in the ninth. This tactic ultimately proved fatal. Coming out fast, McKenzie scored repeatedly with well-placed punches before Robinson caught up with him following a clinch, a perfect short left to the body dropping the Londoner on the floor gasping for breath to be counted out at 2.40 of the round.
