1994-11-11 Julio Cesar Vasquez w pts 12 Tony Marshall, The Casino, Tucuman, Argentina - WBA. Referee: Renato Caddeo. Scorecards: 118-110, 119-112, 117-111. Aiming to impose himself on Marshall (148¼) from the opening bell, the rugged, brawling southpaw champion immediately walked into his rival in an effort to bulldoze him. It was soon clear that Vasquez (153¾) was the stronger of the pair, but Marshall remained unfazed throughout and had some successes, though they were few and far between. Unable to pick up his work rate, despite much cajoling from his corner, the composed Marshall was never busy or aggressive enough to warrant anything from the contest and it was only in the final session that he showed up as a worthy challenger.
