1995-01-28 [[Rafael Ruelas]] w rtd 8 [[Billy Schwer]], MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - IBF. Referee: Mills Lane. Having made a solid start, the challenger ultimately found the reach of Ruelas (135) too much of an obstacle as he looked to get his punches off without being countered. In the third session, Schwer (134) suffered a cut over the right eye after Ruelas had opened up with combinations and in the fifth, following a body assault, he was cut over the left eye. With cuts being his biggest problem and realising he could be stopped at any time, Schwer went on the rampage in the eighth with hooks and uppercuts from both hands to take the round before his corner retired him during the interval.
