1995-01-28 Tom Johnson w pts 12 Manuel Medina, Bally’s Park Place Hotel, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Rudy Battle. Scorecards: 116-112, 115-113, 116-112. Meeting each other for the third time and knowing each other’s style well did not make for a great fight, but it certainly had endeavour even if it was a difficult one for the judges to score. With Johnson (125¾) maintaining his distance, looking to counter rather than lead, it was generally felt that despite throwing less punches he had landed more cleanly, whereas Medina (125), who suffered a cut left eye in the final session, threw too many punches that failed to register and lacked the precision required to win the title.
