1995-02-25 Mike McCallum w rsc 7 Carl Jones, London Arena, Millwall, London, England - WBC. Referee: Larry O’Connell. At the age of 38 there were those who thought that the champion might have been stripped of his title by the tough Jones (171), but it was quickly clear that the latter did not belong in the same league. Outboxed from start, Jones was under pressure the moment McCallum (174) started to double up the jab and smash in rights to head and body, and at the end of the fourth he was dropped heavily by a right to the body. The bell saved Jones at that point, but it did not stop the punches from raining in on him from there onwards. Although not floored again, at 1.17 of the seventh with the left side of his face damaged and taking a beating, Jones was rescued by the referee after a barrage of lefts and rights forced him back to the ropes.
