1995-03-31 Alejandro Gonzalez w pts 12 Louie Espinoza, Arrowhead Pond, Los Angeles, California, USA - WBC. Referee: James Jen-Kin. Scorecards: 116-112, 117-111, 117-110. Boxing well behind the jab in the earlier rounds, the challenger frustrated Gonzalez (126), who although getting off some big shots left it until the last four or five rounds to take over. Espinoza (126) was staggered in the ninth and absorbed such a battering in the 11th that he was lucky to make it to the bell as Gonzalez smashed in vicious punches from both hands. The 12th saw more of the same, but Espinoza came through gamely after having to sustain more of the same, including a solid left uppercut which nearly tore his head off.
