1995-04-01 Virgil Hill w pts 12 Crawford Ashley, Buffalo Bill’s Casino & Hotel, Stateline, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Richard Steele. Scorecards: 117-113, 118-110, 118-110. Getting away fast, the champion quickly moved into gear, jabbing Ashley (174) up and down, as the latter found it hard to find a way through. It looked as though Ashley was in for a tough night, but Hill was much more cautious after the fourth round, later claiming to have broken his left hand. Ashley had his best rounds in the seventh and eighth, sending in some good shots, but he was unable to follow any advantage he may have had disappeared. The final session was the best of the fight and Ashley did well to make it to the bell as Hill opened up for the first time. Both men finished with swellings around their eyes.
