1995-04-08 Oliver McCall w pts 12 Larry Holmes, Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Richard Steele. Scorecards: 115-112, 114-113, 115-114. Trying to become a champion again at the age of 45, Holmes (236) gave it his best shot, but it was ultimately not enough as McCall (231), while showing his limitations, just about scraped home. Many of the rounds were evenly contested and up until the ninth the scores were about even, but in that session Holmes almost came apart at the seams as he was backed up for long periods and ended up with a cut left cheek. That was really the turning point and although Holmes came back well the win the tenth on all of the cards it was not enough.
