1995-04-29 Vince Pettway w co 6 Simon Brown, Air Force Arena, Landover, Maryland USA - IBF. Referee: Ray Klingmeyer. Making his first defence, Pettway (152¼) was soon on the back foot as Brown (154) chased him down and before the end of the first round he was dropped heavily by a left-right-left. Having got to his feet, but still badly dazed, Pettway somehow lasted out the session before putting himself back in the fight when smashing Brown to the floor with a dynamite right hand in the third. Now it was Brown’s turn to be under the cosh, but before long he was firing on all cylinders again and in the fifth he punched Pettway out of the ring and onto the ring apron. By the sixth nobody knew which way the fight was heading, as first one man teed off and then the other, but that was before Pettway sent Brown crashing down from a left hook to be counted out on the 2.07 mark.
