1995-06-10 [[Ralf Rocchigiani]] w rtd 11 [[Carl Thompson]], G-Mex Centre, Manchester, England - WBO. Referee: Genaro Rodriguez. In a battle for the title vacated by Dariusz Michalczewski, Thompson (188) won the first seven rounds on all three cards, cutting Rocchigiani (187½) over the left eye in the fourth and then dropping the latter in the fifth, having been dropped earlier in the session himself. Staggered several times in the eighth things began to look ominous for Thompson and in the tenth he went down having attempted a right, complaining that his arm was damaged. It soon became clear that Thompson had a real problem with his right arm and after he went down in the 11th he got up and walked to his corner where he was retired after 38 seconds.
