1995-06-16 [[Carl Daniels]] w pts 12 [[Julio Cesar Green]], Sports Palace, Lyon, France - WBA. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Scorecards: 118-109, 119-107, 115-111. Contesting the title vacated by Pernell Whitaker, Daniels (153½) proved a worthy successor to the former champion when outboxing the tough and willing Green (153¾), who had two points deducted for roughhousing. After being cut over the left eye in the second round, Daniels found that the southpaw jab, followed by the left cross, were his best weapons and he boxed masterfully to gain control. Smashed to the canvas in the ninth, Green looked a sorry sight, his left eye swollen badly, but although Daniels went for him with a vengeance in the last session the Dominican held up to last the course.
