1995-07-09 [[Tracy Harris Patterson]] w rsc 2 [[Eddie Hopson]], Sparks Convention Centre, Reno, Nevada, USA - IBF. Referee: Mills Lane. After both men had started tentatively with very few punches landing in the opener, Patterson (129), a former WBC junior featherweight champion who was now looking to become champion of a division two weight classes higher, came out in the second determined to make his mark. Although the second round started in similar fashion, with Hopson (129) circling the ring, jabbing and looking for openings, it all changed when he made to land a wide right only to be beaten to the punch by a right cross delivered with venom by the challenger. Somehow getting up from what was a bad knockdown, Hopson was at Patterson’s mercy, being dropped three more times in the session before the referee belatedly decided to bring the contest to an end on the 1.37 mark.
