1995-08-19 Bruce Seldon w rsc 10 Joe Hipp, MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Richard Steele. Starting with the left jab, Seldon (234) found Hipp (233) to be easy to hit with the punch and rarely moved up the gears. With both eyes closing fast from the middle stages of the fight, due to Seldon paying specific attention to them, it was just a matter of time before the southpaw challenger was pulled out and in the tenth, having turned away from his opponent, the referee stopped the contest at 1.47 of the session. As the first ‘native American’ to fight for the heavyweight title, Hipp, both his eyes almost closed tight and a gash on his left cheek pouring blood at the finish, tried his best but lacked the calibre to be anything more than an ordinary fighter.
