1995-08-19 Bruce Seldon w rsc 10 Joe Hipp, MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Richard Steele. Starting with the left jab, after Seldon (234) found Hipp (233) easy to hit with the punch he rarely moved up the gears. With both eyes closing fast from the middle stages of the fight, due to Seldon paying specific attention to them, it was just a matter of time before the southpaw challenger was pulled out. It came as no great shock when Hipp, having turned away from his opponent, was stopped at 1.47 of the tenth. As the first ‘native American’ to fight for the heavyweight title, Hipp, with both his eyes almost closed tight and a gash on his left cheek pouring blood at the finish, had tried his best but lacked the calibre to win the title.
