1995-08-19 Philip Holiday w rtd 10 Miguel Julio, The Superbowl, Sun City, South Africa - IBF. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Fighting for the right to succeed Oscar De La Hoya, Holiday (133¾) started well and finished well after deciding on a strategy of keeping close to Julio (134¼) and working for three minutes of every round. Apart from being cut over the left eye in the third, Holiday’s tactical battle plan was almost perfect as the Colombian was unable to find any rhythm throughout, losing round after round. Although Julio picked up the pace in the tenth it would be his last big effort, and after being knocked down by a barrage of blows to head and body he was saved by the bell before retiring on his stool during the interval.
