1995-08-26 Eamonn Loughran w rsc 6 Tony Gannarelli, Ulster Hall, Belfast, Northern Ireland - WBO. Referee: Roy Francis. Strangely taking the contest whilst on his honeymoon, the little-known Gannarelli (146) probably wished that he was back home on going back to his corner at the end of the first round, both eyes looking sore and blowing heavily after tasting the champion’s punches. However, the American was not going to go that easily and got better as the contest progressed, regardless of the fact that he was being edged out in every session. In the sixth, Loughran (147) began to open up, throwing hard rights and left hooks, and a heavy right to the head saw Gannarelli down on one knee before the referee had seen enough and called it off on the 1.28 mark.
